The True Journey is an art project about the fragility of human memory. That fragility is evident in every photograph taken in a past that we want to capture, an instant that seems unforgettable and then fades in our mind and more quickly with the passage of time. Life is, therefore, a journey from which we accumulate souvenirs that comfort us in the future or plunge us into melancholy. But absolutely nothing indicates that we will remember clearly those moments that once we considered memorable. The artist Concha Martínez Barreto (Murcia, 1978) works around time and memory, constructing new images with her enigmatic drawings and paintings from old photographs and memories. However, her work expands to the installation of sculptures that evoke the beauty of ruins and projections in which she explores the boundaries between analogue and digital, as well as the impact on the collective memory. From 20th October till 25th November 2018 the exhibition of Martínez Barreto The True Journey was shown in La Rambleta’s art center curated by Marisol Salanova.
El Verdadero Viaje es un proyecto artístico sobre la fragilidad de la memoria humana. Dicha fragilidad se hace patente en cada fotografía tomada en un pasado que quisimos capturar, un instante que pareciera imborrable y sin embargo se difumina en nuestra mente, cada vez con mayor celeridad. La vida es, por lo tanto, un viaje del que acumulamos souvenirs que pueden reconfortarnos en un futuro o sumirnos en la melancolía. Pero absolutamente nada indica que vayamos a recordar con nitidez aquellos momentos que en su día consideramos memorables. La artista Concha Martínez Barreto (Murcia, 1978) trabaja en torno al tiempo y la memoria, construyendo imágenes nuevas con sus enigmáticos dibujos y pinturas a partir de fotografías antiguas y recuerdos. No obstante su obra se expande hacia la instalación con esculturas que evocan la belleza de las ruinas y proyecciones en las que investiga los límites entre analógico y digital, así como su impacto en la memoria colectiva. Desde el 20 de octubre al 25 de noviembre de 2018 pudo visitarse la exposición de Concha Martínez Barreto El Verdadero Viaje en el centro La Rambleta comisariada por Marisol Salanova.
